Whether you are climbing for the first time or looking for a fresh challenge, the guides of Connecticut Mountain Recreation (CMR), Connecticut’s oldest climbing school, have the knowledge, patience and experience that will make your mountain experience as rewarding as it can be. Since 1979, CMR has introduced hundreds of individuals to the joys of learning new skills, experiencing personal growth and exploring beautiful mountain environments, here in the hills of Connecticut and in some of the great mountain ranges of the world.
Consider some of the advantages and benefits of CMR’s experience:
Safety
Experience and good judgment are the hallmarks of safety for instruction and guided climbs. The guides of CMR have more than 200 years combined experience as outdoor educators and expert mountain climbers. The equipment that CMR provides is proven to be the best and is maintained in top condition.
Experience
CMR guides are among the most experienced in all of New England with notable ascents to their credit throughout North America, Europe, the Middle East and South America. They put their experience to work for you and introduce you to a special world in a way that makes you feel confident and comfortable. CMR can take you places you’ve only dreamed of.
Commitment
In the best tradition of Professional Mountain guiding, the client always comes first. Every CMR course or guided climb is customized to meet the needs and interests of the individual. The first-time climber receives the same attention and encouragement as a regular client who is fulfilling a life-long dream of climbing the Matterhorn in Switzerland.
Education
Clients and students come away from a course with a sound foundation of fundamental climbing and safety skills that will be relevant for a lifetime. Also, the clients of CMR always receive something extra. Whether it’s a special trick for staying warm or learning the names of the peaks and wildflowers, CMR guides get the greatest reward from sharing their knowledge and love of the mountains and nature. They also do their best to impart their own sense of good judgment and responsibility based on many years of safe travel in the mountains.
